Some furious text messaging and phone calling later, we traveled on with a cancelled card looking for a nice restaurant where we could relax and lick our wounds. Tucked away under a bougainvillea and a patio heater we tried to read our menus in the dark. At the table next to us guests pulled out their various smart devices and shined them on the menu. Turns out, there’s an app for that! I installed a flashlight app on my iTouch.
I’ve heard of the flashlight app but gave no thought as to
why it might be useful. I saw no need until I sat in the dark trying to
distinguish a fish taco from a fresh nacho. What else is available, free for
the asking, that I am in the dark about?
The truth is that we can’t protect ourselves from every
threat. They are new every morning. We
have to depend on protection services to be a step ahead of the crooks. So
here’s a shout out to USAA, the insurance company for military families.
When I shine the light of truth on what at its core is a
violation of trust I see that none of us are immune from malevolent attacks on
our bodies or our bank accounts but we have a soul protector. His services are free. All we have to do is search and accept and He
downloads.
